science slam Romanistik 2023
It was my first time participating in such a slam. I remember I was very nervous, it turned out to be the only student among the participating teachers, yet at the same time excited to be part of it, to express myself with the thing that sat on my heart, namely, my migration process. I don't want to say that mine was special, but the fact that it belongs to me puts me in a position to relate, to connect with others of my own kind. Sharing experiences seems to me like sharing lives.
In the installation you can see, I tried to recreate a part of the traveled road, with the obstacles encountered and the shelters I found. I have worked with natural materials, animal bones, linen, sand, ashes in order to leave my footprints, to be able to say: I walked this way. Barefooted, per pedes, because I didn't always have the protection of my shoes, now I'm speaking figuratively. That small swing of loneliness in the corner, realized on another occasion, inspired by another course, I put it beside because, in this whole process, there were often moments of loneliness that overwhelmed me. By swaying I was caring for myself and loving myself.
For this presentation the idea was to find as many shoes as possible, to put them in front of the university, to show that there are many of us who have such an emigration process behind.
All this I connected with Iciar Bollain's documentary En tierra extraña, 2014, where as a consequence of the economic crisis of 2008/2009 many Spanish citizens emigrated to Edinburgh.
On this occasion I would like to send my thanks to Professor Dr. Esther Gimeno Ugalde, the one who brought me closer to the women filmmaker, el cine de mujeres.
