Women who dare to break the boundaries of stereotyping.
February 2023
Aim: Empowerment of Roma women
Concept: Cándida Álvarez Guerrero and Cristina Messnik
Location: Don Benito/Spain
Content: This project aims to conduct empowerment workshops with Roma women, bringing them together in an appropriate space to develop their existing qualities while gaining new ones. Communication and exchange of opinions and experiences should strengthen them to better face and cope with the demands of the society in which they live. The exchange about experienced exclusion, discrimination and racism may make existing barriers in the access to the labor market and to good housing, barriers to active participation in social life more aware and rather enable to name them and to work on them. In addition, sewing and computer courses are held at the request of the women.
Objective of the courses: To expand knowledge and skills,
strengthening women's self-confidence and promoting them through empowerment.
